DIRECTIVE ON AGRICULTURAL MARKET REGULATION This directive establishes the legal framework for regulating agricultural markets, ensuring fair trade practices, price transparency, and market access for smallholder farmers in the Oromia Region.
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers vested in the Minister of Agriculture, the following Directive is issued:
1. Objective
To create a competitive and transparent agricultural marketing system that benefits farmers and consumers.
2. Scope
This directive applies to all agricultural markets, cooperatives, traders, and market committees in the Oromia Region.
3. Market License Requirements
All traders operating in agricultural markets must obtain a valid trading license from the relevant market authority.
4. Price Monitoring
Daily price monitoring shall be conducted at all major markets and reported to the Bureau.
5. Quality Standards
Minimum quality standards for agricultural products shall be enforced to protect consumer interests.
6. Dispute Resolution
Market disputes shall be resolved through the established mediation and arbitration mechanisms.
