Directive on Extension Service Standards

DIRECTIVE ON EXTENSION SERVICE STANDARDS This directive establishes minimum standards for agricultural extension services provided by the Oromia Bureau of Agriculture to ensure quality, effectiveness, and farmer participation.

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers vested in the Minister of Agriculture, the following Directive is issued:

1. Purpose
To standardize the quality and delivery of agricultural extension services across all woredas in the Oromia Region.
2. Scope
This directive applies to all extension workers, supervisors, and extension program coordinators.
3. Extension Worker Qualifications
Extension workers must hold at least a Diploma in Agriculture or related field with relevant experience.
4. Service Delivery Standards
Each extension worker shall serve a minimum of 500 farm households and conduct monthly field visits.
5. Training Requirements
Extension workers must participate in at least 40 hours of annual in-service training.
6. Performance Monitoring
Quarterly performance evaluations shall be conducted based on established key performance indicators.
