Green Legacy Initiative

The Green Legacy Initiative is a massive tree planting campaign led by the Government of Ethiopia to promote environmental sustainability, combat land degradation, and enhance climate resilience across the nation. Launched in 2022, this program mobilizes millions of citizens, communities, and institutions to participate in tree planting activities.

OBA has integrated tree planting with agricultural practices, including agroforestry systems and shade trees for livestock. The initiative focuses on restoring degraded land, improving soil fertility, and creating green jobs in rural communities. Through partnerships with local organizations, schools, and religious institutions, the program has achieved remarkable participation and impact.
